Goethe University is proud to be a member of the DCA (Data Centre Alliance). The University is deeply interested in all questions concerning the planning and operating scientific data centers and the provisioning of educational courses in this field. The EDP Department is in the process of planning and realizing a new data center including colocation areas for university instituts with the focus of redundancy, energy efficiency and stability. Several Departments are cooperating with the Center for Scientific Computing that already operates three Linux-based computer clusters to support numerically intensive studies in a variety of research fields. In daily operation one focus of innovation is the energy-efficiency of the cluster. In addition, there is current scientific work on a decentralized, fault tolerant tool-set for autonomous management for data center.
